Sharon Tseung. teaching people how to build passive income, become financially free and design their best lives. Hey guys, Sharon from digital nomad quest, and today we’re gonna go over the best work from home jobs so you can start working from home today. Now more and more positions are going remote, especially during the pandemic with everything that’s going on. Many businesses are moving online and a lot of people are willing to pay to help them now even before the pandemic and everything I actually took some part time remote positions before I transitioned to becoming a digital nomad building passive income streams,

I ended up traveling the world for two years because I was able to work on a lot of things online become location independent, just working from the comfort of my laptop. Now some of the part time remote positions I took was in marketing, I did graphic design for ads, I did Facebook ads, and manage a lot of paid ads and social media. So that’s why I want to go over this today because I experienced it myself and I was able to travel a lot, do a lot more things take multiple positions, I could build my income faster. It just gave me so much more freedom. And I want you to have that freedom as well to become location independent and also have multiple positions that you can build up that network. Now let’s just get right into it. So first one is to become a social media manager. Now most of us use social media every day. That’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tik Tok, you name it. Now businesses are realizing more and more that they need to create organic content. When it comes to marketing online, it’s not enough to just do paid advertisements, they need to build a strong presence on their social media channels. It’s important for them to build up on these platforms to get more followers to get more sales, and also brand awareness to get more people to know about them. But many business owners are too busy with what they’re working on. Or they might be too old to understand that new technological developments. So that’s why entrepreneurs are going to pay a lot for a social media manager, what you’re going to do is post content on their pages, maybe figure out a content calendar, and just be familiar with the social media features and updates. For example, IG reels and tick tock really blew up my brand. So these are some of the things a lot of business owners will actually pay for the amount of reach right now with these features and platforms is incredible. So you can charge $300 up to even $1,000 a month per client. And if you can manage it, well you can have multiple clients so you can make 1000s of dollars a month. So one of the pros about this is it’s recurring income every single month. And then as you’re building up more and more clients getting more testimonials, you can charge a higher rate in the future, you’re not just managing their social media, you’re really freeing up more time for the business owner and getting them more eyeballs and sales. So something you might want to do to start your own business is to start your own Instagram page or YouTube or Tik Tok, you’re going to create beautiful creatives and solid captions and show you really have that capability to grow a page, you’re going to learn about content calendars, how to plan out a weekly schedule of content. And then if you want, you want to set up a website with your services and your rates. And in order to get clients you might want to reach out to people’s Instagram pages if they’re lacking and see how you can improve on it. You can also search on Upwork or Fiverr. These are sites that I commonly recommend all the time because you can start finding clients that way pretty easily. A big tip is really to have those testimonials and case studies to really prove that you have the ability to do this. And a great thing about this is you can start this with very little money to start number two, you can become a video editor. So actually with all the videos on my YouTube channel, I hire editors to help me edit them. This allows me to free up a lot more time to work on other things in the business. And my editors are better than me at editing. So it really helps me a lot you have to learn the different software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro, you can even try iMovie to help you start video editing. In the past I actually had a music channel and I edited all my own videos, I even edited my music videos. So you can actually learn through experience and you can learn through YouTube. There’s so many tutorials out there that can teach you those skills. And once you acquire those skills start trying to get clients I hired editors on Upwork. So that can be where you start looking for work and pay rate really depends on your skills as well as your location. When you’re just starting out, you want to charge less, maybe 20 bucks 25 bucks and then go up from there. Some people will pay hundreds to 1000s of dollars per video edit depending on what you’re trying to get edited. So just like anything else in this video, you’re gonna want to build up clients and build up testimonials so you can get more and more people to work with you. And if you can edit fast you can make a lot of money doing this. So start by watching YouTube tutorials and getting the software and start editing your own videos so you can understand those skills. Number three is becoming a freelance writer so I recommend Upwork Fiverr and also flex jobs. There are many places you can look for freelance writing gigs. For example, if you look at the CNBC article, Alex Missoula actually makes $378,000 a year on Fiverr. You’ve probably seen her on Tik Tok. So you can actually make a lot on Fiverr which a lot of people might not expect because in the beginning Fiverr was known for their $5 gigs but the more work you do on Fiverr the more you build your ratings, the more you can charge she mentioned In the article that it’s important to actually charge less when you start working. And I highly recommend that with a lot of these different freelancing gigs and things like that you can even start with free gigs with friends, or just showcasing your own work in the beginning and then do like $5 gigs for clients just charge less. And that even goes with video editing and social media management, you can do those $5 gigs on Fiverr in the beginning to really rack up those reviews. And then as you get those five star ratings, you can do more and more with that. And another thing is maybe use nice pictures of your face so that people can really trust you and advertise on social media and on your social profiles. You might want to choose different branding colors that people will recognize as your own to give everything a cleaner look so that people can trust you more honestly, people need content for the blogs. I have hired writers as well for my blog, digital nomad quest, most of the time a lot of these business owners just don’t have the time to write these things by themselves. So that’s why being a freelance writer can be really cool and all these freelancing gigs are great because there could be no ceiling to how much you earn. For example, you can charge more and then hire team and things like that you never know actually how much your business can grow. Number four is become a transcriptionist. Now this is not the greatest of all work from home jobs. Basically, with the transcriptionist you need to listen to different audio pieces and transcribe that into writing. According to this article, a transcription of salary is generally around $15 an hour while an advanced transcriptionist can make about 25 to $30 per hour. With this rate, you can make $1,500 a month if you work two and a half hours per day for 24 days. So with being a transcriptionist, you have to be a good typer you have to have a high words per minute count, meaning you should be able to type pretty fast, you can work on your own time your own schedule. So some sites you might want to look up are rev.com, transcribe me alleges transcription, and also check Fiverr, Upwork, freelancer and even TaskRabbit. Number five is just to sell on Fiverr. So like I mentioned, people can make serious bank on Fiverr. And the great thing about Fiverr is you can set up whatever gigs that makes sense for you and the knowledge you have. So for example, if you’re good at graphic design, maybe you want to put up a gig on designing logos, you can start with a $5 gig, if you design 10 logos you make $50. But I’ve hired for logos before I’ve paid from 20 bucks to even $100 for a logo, it really depends on the quality that you’re going to receive. There’s so many things that you can do an offer on Fiverr. As an example, you can even record yourself greeting people and giving them birthday wishes, that can totally be a fiverr gig and some people get paid a lot for that. So basically the sky’s the limit with Fiverr, you can think of whatever random gig that you can offer. And you can offer as many gigs as you want, essentially. And the more ratings you rack up, the more chances you can increase your price and get more clients. Number six is to sell things from maybe Walmart or Target and then reselling it on eBay, Craigslist or Facebook marketplace where you’re going to do is get cheap things from the clearance section. And you might want to use the Walmart app to compare prices. And then you’re going to resell it online to people for a higher price. You can even buy things at thrift stores and resell them. So for example, my friend Sara bought the stained glass piece at Goodwill for $9.99. And then she put it on Facebook marketplace for $50. And then it sold immediately. So if you can find more items like that, that you can resell, you can really work at your own schedule. I know people who do this full time and make a ton of money doing this because the more you do it, you actually understand what’s going to sell better and what’s not gonna sell. And then you also understand how much you can sell it for the more you do this. So when you’re doing this, usually you’re going to meet with a person to sell it to them. But you can also use eBay as an option. However they do charging fees, they usually charge about 10% for every item that you sell. I’ve actually tried this out before because I watched all these Gary Vee videos and then I went to a garage sale and tried to resell something and it actually worked. I resold it on eBay and got a profit. And it just gave me assurance that any of these methods can actually make you a lot of money if you just spend more time on it. And that brings me to number seven, you can repair and resell free high ticket items on Craigslist and offer and according to this article, this person tested it out he said I could easily make an extra 50 to $100 a week even if I just flipped one or two things as basically an afternoon of work. And then he goes on to mention that he knows people who make 30 to $50,000 a year just flipping items but if you want to make more money usually want to go for like appliances, furniture, like couches and things like that. For example people like Ryan Penita actually made five figures a month doing couch flipping, he’s put his tutorials on YouTube about it and then a lot of people started doing it as well. And from watching the videos they actually make a lot of money doing this. I can see this a lot because couches go for a lot of money. So if you can restore couches and then resell them, you could probably make a few $100 per couch. Now same thing with appliances for example washers, dryers, refrigerators, those go for a lot of money, but it does require more skill to learn how to repair and fix things. People always need to buy new appliances, maybe things get broken. So what you can do is get those appliances for Free on the free section on Craigslist or offer I’ll take it off their hands, make sure you clean it up and repair what needs to be fixed and then sell it on platforms like Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. Same thing with the couches. Once you have a buyer, you can even ask them what they’re going to do with their old appliances. And maybe you can take them off their hands and repeat the same process by fixing it up and reselling it. A key tip is you want to take really good photos because some of the mobile phone photos aren’t going to cut it, you might want to get a nice camera and take pictures to make it look really nice. And you also want to make sure that you know how to fix appliances, you know how to restore couches, so you might want to watch those YouTube tutorials to understand how to do so number eight, you can become an online tutor. So with online tutoring, you don’t need to be a professional. As long as you have some knowledge over the average person. You can earn money, you can teach people English, math, science, history, or even some random things like video games, or how to skateboard according to this article, you can make between 11 to $20 an hour for common subjects.

But if you’re teaching something super valuable to clients that’s unique or you just have a specific skill set, you can make up to $100 per hour and even $500 an hour, it really depends on what it is and how much of a thought leader you are in the space. For example, my husband, Shawn actually tried to hire an Overwatch coach for $20 an hour, he paid 80 bucks for four hours. Unfortunately, he was not good enough that the coach actually refunded him and it was like maybe you should just watch more videos and play more video games because this isn’t going to cut it, which is really sad. But the point is, even my husband is paying for video game coaching. So it’s not something that’s super uncommon. I’ve even paid $300 for an hour coaching call about email marketing, I paid $3,000 for a course creation workshop. So people like me are spending on coaching and tutoring because it’s just really helpful to boost your skills and gain more knowledge. So first, think about a subject or topic that you want to help people out on and figure out what your strengths and passions are. Doesn’t have to be school related, like I mentioned could be about video games could be about cooking, it could be about sports, anything for student tutoring, you can check out why Zant. And you can also check out varsity for teaching English I like prep Li and I talkie I actually learned Spanish on both of those sites. And you can even look on Fiverr I ended up hiring a coach for Shawn after that whole debacle. And I hired him on Fiverr. So you can definitely look to sell your services there. But usually, if you want to make more you want to build up your brand, you want to build up your authority in the space. And the more specific and high worth your knowledge is, the more you can earn. Now, if you want to set this coaching up, you might even want to go on clarity.fm actually try to be a coach there for a split second, I only had one call there before. But basically, it’s like a marketplace where you can look for coaches. And you can do that coaching through their platforms. And you don’t have to worry about the scheduling part or the payment processing part because they handle all that. Or you can use Gumroad, teachable or PayPal for their payment processors and use Calendly for the scheduling part of it all. And then you can teach people through zoom or Skype calls. So I highly recommend kind of building up your own website and building up your brand. So you can get more known in the space as a thought leader. So after that one on one coaching, you can even think about selling your knowledge through ebooks, through courses and through memberships and things like that, if you do it this way. It’s super scalable, highly passive. And there’s very high demand because of the failures in the current education system. Number nine, you can start a YouTube channel. So I make about four to $5,000 a month in ad revenue alone. So that’s why I highly recommend making a YouTube channel you can actually make a lot of money through it. It does depend on your niche and how high quality your content is how consistent you are. But not only can you make money through ad revenue, you can make money through sponsorships, affiliates, your own products, membership sites, there’s so many ways to do it after you built your own personal brand. So like I mentioned, the cost per 1000 impressions really varies based on the niche because some advertisers will pay more for ad space on those videos depending on what the niche is, I have to warn you that it does take a lot of time doing this because it took me even more than a year to get my youtube channel monetized it takes 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours and actually 4000 watch hours takes a while to get to. So make sure you’re passionate about the topic that you’re going to make a YouTube channel on because you can really burn out if you don’t like what you’re talking about. So if you just want to start out you can even just start using your phone and get that experience Film yourself on your iPhone start putting up the YouTube videos and then you’ll get better and better as you go and I would recommend learning from other successful creators how they’re creating their content use tools like to buddy to do that keyword research so that you can rank your videos high through SEO, you’re gonna want to think long term with this so don’t just think that you’re gonna start making money right off the bat.

I usually think in terms of like a five to even 10 years for building up that personal brand could even be longer right so you have to think in a longer timeframe and really stick with it. This actually leads me to Number 10 which is affiliate marketing because a lot of YouTubers actually make a ton of money through affiliate marketing. So with affiliate marketing You’re essentially promoting a product. And whenever people purchase through your unique referral link, you get Commission’s value marketing is super low risk and low cost, you can do it with no money to start use are putting your links wherever and if people buy through it, you get commissions. However, I do not recommend being spammy with your links, you want to make sure you are creating valuable content for people so that it would actually make sense for them to want to buy through the link. So you’re usually doing this through your YouTube channel or a blog or some space like that, where you can create comprehensive tutorials and reviews of certain products that you highly recommend. So when you want to decide on a platform, which one is better for you like a blog or YouTube channel, and then you want to niche down figure out exactly what topic you want to talk about on that YouTube channel or on that website. If you’re going to talk about food, see if you can narrow down even more like vegan food, that way you can become a thought leader in your space won’t be too saturated, it’ll be a little bit more narrow in a niche way of a bit less competition, you can stand out in the space. And then you want to find affiliate programs to join, you might want to Google an affiliate program of your favorite products or failure companies, you can also sign up for affiliate networks like impact or ShareASale. Amazon Associates is one of the first ones people usually sign up for usually get about a 4% commission with it. And essentially, if you buy stuff on Amazon, you will probably have something to promote, you’ll just take the Amazon affiliate link and paste it wherever you make a review video or whatever. After you’ve done all those things, you want to make that good content that will actually rank well in search. And it’ll provide value for the community. It also provide value for the owner in terms of sales, as well as you get a commission. So it’s a win win for everyone. So I highly recommend affiliate marketing because it’s super low cost to start and you start making money if you do it the right way. And I actually know some affiliate marketers who make like six figures a month they make a million dollars a year it’s insane. So it’s definitely doable to make a lot of money through this route. Lastly, I want to mention becoming a virtual assistant. So a lot of these entrepreneurs are hiring bas to help them with their business. I actually have two VAs right now that helped me a lot with my business, usually with VA is you don’t need a handle anything too intricate, you’re usually kind of helping with calendar management with writing, customer support any administrative tasks, but they can also help you with social media and other things. It really depends on their knowledge base. So if you want to get started, maybe you don’t feel like yeah, that many skills being a virtual assistant can actually be really awesome. And you can handle multiple clients so that you can make more and more money. I think this is a great option if you just want to stay at home and have that freedom where you don’t have to go into a nine to five depending on your location, you might be able to make $15 An hour and even more if you have different qualification and have a large amount of clients and testimonials to really back that you’re a solid virtual assistant. You can even create your own business create an agency of virtual assistants and you can grow your business that way. So I hope you guys enjoyed this video on 11 work from home jobs that you can start today I tried to include positions that didn’t require a ton of experience starting out like a lot of these things are things you can pick up right away or learn some of the skill sets through YouTube and free tutorials. And you can already start building up your client base by using websites like Upwork and Fiverr or creating your own website or when it comes to things like flipping items. You can go ahead and start on Craigslist and eBay. A lot of people get started right away after they hear about these side hustle ideas and I love hearing how it changes their lives.
