CONSISTENCY IS KEY

Consistency is Key

As you know, I’ve been on this hype of investing in yourself and creating content. I’ve realized that when you’re trying to grow a brand, a lot of this entrepreneurial work comes down to consistency.

Consistency is Key

Examples of Hard Workers

I spoke with Jason from Frugal for Less, and he wrote a blog post every single day (until he started outsourcing and automating work). This type of hustle is not something that comes naturally to most people. Even though Jason enjoys writing, he discussed the dedication and willpower that was required to constantly write each day. And the more consistent you are with it, the faster and more effective you are with writing as the more experience you have, the stronger your writing muscle becomes. However this strength only happens when you’re developing a habit through consistency.

I also came across Alex and Lauren from Create and Go. If you visit their About page, you can see that they quit their jobs without even knowing if their hustles were going to pan out. They had no income coming in from their businesses, but they still had faith and worked extremely hard. My friend Jason actually knows them, and he told me they would work nonstop on their blogs to a point in which they were making $160,000 a month, within just a two-year time span. The fact that Jason thinks they work hard means they must have been extremely dedicated as I know Jason’s strong work ethic.

All of this was very impressive to me because I know firsthand how difficult it is to stay consistent with blogging. It’s been 2 years or so, and I still find writing just once a week can already be kind of difficult. I have to admit that even with my own blog, there were many times in which I didn’t want to put in the consistent work while I was traveling, so I would disappear and drop off.

People Know What To Do, They Just Don’t Do It

I realize that even if people know that consistency is key, and even if people understand the blueprint to becoming successful, many just don’t grind it out because it’s a lot of work and it’s hard. I can see why Jason and that couple got to a point where they’re making a full-time income off their blogs, because the work that they do is insane. They persisted even when times were challenging.

Only the 1% really make it happen because they do the stuff you don’t want to do. Constantly blogging, constantly releasing content, and persistently publishing videos or Instagram posts every day seems extremely tiring and a lot of work, but that’s what it takes to become a leader in your niche. You have to put in the time and effort.

The 1% Versus the 99%

Like Gary Vaynerchuk said, “1% of things should be so hard that 99% of people don’t want it or have the stomach or talent for it.” If it were that easy to make tons of passive income a month, everyone would be doing it. But the grind and hustle, doing what nobody else wants to do, is what separates the 1% from the other 99%.

The 1% versus the 99% concept always gives me some perspective. If I’m always dreaming of a certain goal and feeling unsatisfied, I can’t blame anyone else cause it’s honestly just up to me to get there. I also can’t complain because I know what it TAKES to get there!

Even taking the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche Course about driving Pinterest traffic to your site, I found Alex and Lauren advocate the exact same thing about consistency. It’s really key to building any channel, business, or brand. They talked about putting up website content weekly, and the more the better as you can then pin consistently from those blog posts. The biggest way to succeed is really just to keep going at one thing. People say that it takes 10,000 hours to master one skill. It’s the same concept!

My Goals

So with that in mind I realized I needed to step it up with my blog, and I need to prioritize some tasks and de-prioritize others. If I want to make something successful I have to try to put at least 80% of my time into it. So outside of full-time work I should be focused totally on Digital Nomad Quest. I’m reminded of my initial reasons for starting this blog – it was to hold myself accountable as well as inspire/teach other people how to achieve the same feats of location and financial independence. Now that I’ve reached $4,000 a month in passive income, I would like to further teach and inspire people on how to do the same. Coming back with this goal in mind, I’m remembering the reasons why I started this in the first place and I’m more inspired to create content to help people live the life they want to live.

With the “consistency is key” theme in mind I’m going to start writing post more consistently. I’m aiming for at least once a week (hopefully more), and I want to start actually working on my Instagram. I started my 100-day Instagram challenge, in which I post content each day about passive income, personal finance, inspiration, traveling, or life thoughts. Also, now I have purchased my Sony camera , which I hope will be used to make YouTube videos around DNQ concepts I teach.

I would like to recap after 2018 is done and see how far I get after implementing these new ideas and the courses I have taken. We shall see how far I get! Let me know in the comments if you have any feedback. Thanks!
