Getting My Blog to the Next Level

Sharon Tseung Side Hustles Leave a Comment

Lately I’ve been trying to get to my version of the “next level” in life. When I say next level, I am talking mentally, emotionally, physically, as well through my hustles like my blog. I’m planning to really build up DigitalNomadQuest through the end of year and onwards.

I’ve essentially doubled my traffic after implementing strategies from Pinterest Traffic Avalanche, getting interviewed on Fire Drill Podcast, and receiving mentions through other backlinks.

Now I want to take it to the next level. The next steps I’m going to take are:

1. Implement a new website theme
2. Build two courses
3. Create an email sequence
4. Master affiliate marketing

Getting My Blog to the Next Level

New WordPress Theme

It’s been nice using this free WordPress theme because it has such a clean look, but there are certain features I can’t customize without some strong coding knowledge. I don’t want to spend the time learning coding to get the results I need with the blog, and I want to make sure I have all the top gear that big bloggers use. One of the themes I’ve heard mentioned a few times was “X theme” so I just purchased it!

In some time, I plan to migrate over to this theme. So I’m going to start customizing the site – let me know what you think when it’s been activated! If anyone has any feedback on other great themes, let me know as well. Even though I purchased X Theme already I’m still open to other suggestions.

Build Two Courses

A few months ago I talked about building a course on Etsy. It’s been a while now, but it’s still not finished! I’ve been taking steps to make sure that the course is the best it can possibly be, including:

1. Purchased Six-Figure Blogger that includes a section on how to build e-courses (as well as sales pages and e-mail funnels).
2. Bought a few more Etsy courses just to make sure I’m covering all points that I can tackle within my own course.
3. Upgrade to a new camera to record with for the course.

I plan to finish creating this course in October, but launching it will be its own beast. I will also need to pay $39/month for Teachable for its affiliate program functionalities. That’s why I want to make sure I have the best launch plan for the course.

Another thing I’m super excited about is I’m planning to work with Jason from FrugalForLess on a joint course as well, and we have been planning its details. Stay tuned!

Master Affiliate Marketing

When I say “master” affiliate marketing, I mean I’m mainly going to take a few courses that I’ve already bought, and learn the ropes of it all. I think I have a decent grasp, but it’s just about implementing. Hopefully the courses give me new knowledge that I didn’t know before. I think that it is useful to learn affiliate marketing as it’s a mutually beneficial skill – I’d be recommending the stuff I like using, to you guys, I’d help the person who created the product, and I’d help myself by monetizing.

Create an E-mail Sequence

I’m currently using Mailchimp, but I’m planning to upgrade to ConvertKit. I’ve heard it recommended SO many times that I’m finally giving in. However, ConvertKit costs a minimum of $29 a month, so I want to make sure I can justify it. Because of its recurring fee, this will be a later part of the plan. Once I release the courses I will definitely upgrade to ConvertKit!

This is a bit of a short post but I just wanted to share my excitement about my next steps. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Note: This post contains affiliate links, meaning I would receive a percentage of the products if you purchase through my links, but at no additional cost to you. I do this to help finance the free content that I publish on my website, so I appreciate your support! I only recommend products that I have used and can stand behind.
