Mind mapping is a great way to explore business ideas! In this video Sean Pan and I brainstorm ideas at a cafe.
How to Brainstorm Business Ideas through Mind Mapping!
I didn’t create a podcast version of this episode as the information was more visual and requires more than just audio. I will create a more in-depth post on mind mapping in the future!
Below is a transcription of the video. This transcription was taken from Otter.ai so it might not be completely accurate:
Hey guys, it’s Sharon from Digital Nomad Quest, and I am with Sean Pan from Everything Real Estate Investing. We’re trying to do some mind mapping today. Mind mapping is basically a way to write down all your thoughts and then organize them. And what you do is you put all your thoughts on post it notes, and then put them all on the table, and then you start organizing your thoughts.Sean Pan 0:29
I’ve never done this before. So I’m excited to try it out and see what we can come up with, in the short time.Sharon Tseung 0:34
Me too I haven’t done this before. But I heard it’s a really great technique. Pat Flynn does it. It should be good. Maybe we’ll get some good ideas from it.Okay, we just finished mind mapping, We did it for 10 minutes. Basically, what we did is we put all our ideas on the table. So it basically looks like….Sean Pan 1:15
We have the best handwriting ever :DSharon Tseung 1:17
Now we basically need to categorize all our post-it notes into different buckets so that they’re all kind of organized into the same idea. So what I basically did was I mind mapped for my next steps for my business, and kind of my life too. So things I’ve put down were like different courses I want to make, different affiliate marketing strategies I could do, different things I could promote, my email sequences that I want to do, how I’m going to promote my website, different mediums I’m going to do like YouTube, blog, podcast, and things like that.Sean Pan 1:52
I got my biweekly podcast. What I could do is I can make one more. So boost engagement, transcribe it, make it into a a blog post. There’s a whole bunch of different things you can do like partner with other investors, or talking and guest podcasting with other people, or speaking at someone else’s conference.

Cool so Sean’s basically quitting his job, and he’s going to do real estate full time. So he’s trying to figure out his plan moving forward. So he’s got some good ideas I think! What do you think about the exercise?
Sean Pan 2:21
It was interesting, you know, you find out a lot more to think about, and you can write for very, very long time.
Sharon Tseung 2:26
I think for me, I was having trouble thinking of new ideas, because I guess I’ve been thinking about these things for a while. So I don’t know if I thought of too many new things. But I can see how this is a great exercise for new topics that I haven’t explored to just kind of put everything out there. Because the idea is you’re not supposed to think too much right? Not overanalyze your ideas, and just put everything out there. So I think it’s a great exercise. I think you guys should do it too!
Sean Pan 2:54
Are any of these things, something new, or are they all things you’ve already thought of before?
Sharon Tseung 2:57
So for me, so we do this exercise on a Google Doc, where we do 10 ideas a day. And I basically explored all these ideas like already, but I think it’s a great exercise for you know something else you want to pursue and you haven’t thought through yet what you’re going to do. And I do think I came up with a few more things. I’m gonna take a picture of my mind map later so that I can remember it. I think it’s a good exercise!
If you guys think it is a good idea you guy should try it too. It’s called mind mapping. And if you liked the video, please like, comment, subscribe, all that stuff. And yeah! I appreciate your support. Thanks! See you next time!

Itz a great idea but how to breakdown the categories? I need some help…

Hi! You would move the post-it notes into clusters under each post-it note category
