This is the digital nomad quest podcast with Sharon Tseung. teaching people how to build passive income, become financially free and design the best lives. Hey guys, it’s Sharon from digital nomad quests. And today I’m going to give you guys a rundown on how to get your real estate agent license. So in previous videos I talked about why I actually took the license exam there are many reasons you can basically get your license for investing purposes because it’s going to lower fees. You can also become a part time agent you can even like refer to other agents if you don’t want to be that agent, but also get that referral commission right so there are many ways where you can make money from getting your license. Now before we begin, if you guys are into passive income entrepreneurship, digital nomad life and just overall wanting to design your best life, make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more awesome videos. So now let’s get right into it on how to get your real estate license. Okay, so first of all, You need to be 18 or 19 years old that depends on your state. So check your state requirements. Secondly, you need to complete three courses. The first one is real estate principles. The second one is real estate practice. And the last one is like from this long list, there are different courses that you can take to qualify for that last requirement of course, okay, so those three courses are necessary to move on to taking the exam. And in order to take those three courses. You can either do it in person, or you can do it online. For me, I did it online and I only paid $99 for my three courses. All I had to do was take exams after all the study materials and then show that I passed so before I forget, you also need a GED as well as a high school diploma in order to apply for the real estate license. I purchased my courses on on course learning it doesn’t really matter where you do it, just make sure that the certification works in order for you to take the exam. Okay, so if you want to follow my steps I took on course learning I believe it’s $129 for that complete package of three courses but that’s still really cheap. Okay, so as long as you pass those courses and get that certification, you’re able to move on to the next part. The crazy thing is I bought those courses in 2013, completed them in 2014 and decided not to move on, because I realized you have to pay annual fees in order to get your license. And typically those fees can be around one to $2,000 a year, maybe even more. So that’s why I was like, Okay, let me hold let me not do this. But then like this year, I decided to actually go for it. So then finally, you’re going to take the exam, it’s three hours and 15 minutes and 150 questions. And when I did in California, I paid $60 in order to take the exam. Now once you pass your exam, you stopped to do an application in order to get your license. And that’s going to cost like another $200 ish, but they give you a year after you pass your exam date in order to wait if you want to wait before you get your license. So you have a year after you’ve passed the exam in order to get that license, so I actually haven’t got my license yet. I am waiting for a bit Until I know exactly what I’m doing with it. So I haven’t been investing as much in real estate but that’s what I’m planning to do as well as possibly be a part time agent. I just haven’t had time. So I’m going to wait and like make sure it’s the right move for me before I apply for the license because the reason why I’m waiting is again, the one to $2,000 per year fee, okay, I don’t want to pay that without knowing what I’m doing. So that’s basically it on how to get your real estate license. So I hope you guys enjoyed this episode. Please make sure to rate review and subscribe. It really helps our podcast grow. And thanks again. I’ll see you guys in the next one.
