October 2017 Progress Report – $3,300/month Passive Income Milestone!

Disclaimer: I don’t break down the actual amounts in my progress reports in fear of revealing too much online – my apologies! These posts are merely a way for me to track my progress.

Woohoo – in October I made over $3,300 in passive income! I’ve never broken $3k before so that is crazy to me. Initially I calculated $3,100 in passive income but my earnings report from one of my income streams ended up being higher than computed.

This does not mean my earnings will be consistent without maintenance (I’m pretty sure I’m not going to do as well in November). Things can happen – you never know. So again, I’m cautiously optimistic…but it doesn’t mean I can’t be grateful! I DID NOT reach my goal to break $10k October 2017, but I’m still happy.

To celebrate I had a little “treat yoself day”…all that meant was I went to Tsim Sha Tsui with a book and read and treated myself to a $25 meal, haha. Nothing fancy.

Anyway without further ado, here is my October 2017 progress report :).

Travel

The bf visited for a little bit in the bay area! We checked out Alcatraz, Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, hung out in SF, and ate a lot of food.

Hahahaha

Towards the end of month I went to Hong Kong (and am still here now). Of course, I went to my SPOT…HK Disneyland, haha.

BOOKS!

you can heal your life louise hay

I finished You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. The title sounds pretty dramatic, but I think it can be beneficial to anyone who’s open to it. I enjoyed the book’s takeaways – one of its main concepts is to separate yourself from the idea that you are controlled by your mind. And to help shift your thinking and heal unresolved parts of yourself, you can face them head on (e.g. trace back to your childhood development and understand why you may be the way you are), and use affirmations to “fake it till you make it”. The author was actually able to defeat cancer without any operations, through a mental shift and through facing hidden unresolved issues.

a new earth eckhart tolle

But the most powerful book I’ve found to slowly but surely bring awareness into my life is A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle! AHHH it is so good. Each page is filled with tons of life-changing knowledge that I could discuss for hours and hours. I’m not done yet, but I’ve been highlighting and taking notes in the book. I already know that after I finish I’m going to need to reread it again. I highly recommend it!

Passive Income

Etsy

Check out my guides on how to make passive income with Etsy. On Etsy, I sell digital downloads which generates passive income (without considering the active work in responding to customer support e-mails).

I created a numeric Etsy goal for myself in October, but I actually didn’t hit it. In fact I completed only about 1/4th of my goal. I was so busy with other endeavors that I dropped the ball on this income stream. However, I somehow made more on Etsy in October than September!

If you’d like to open your own Etsy shop, you can use my link here which gives you 40 free listings – an $8 value – (and provides me with 40 free listings as well).

Merch by Amazon

I had an increase in profits on Merch by Amazon. But to be honest I’m now quite nervous about depending on this income stream. I keep hearing about random terminations of accounts without explanation from Amazon. I’m going to go about this income stream way slower and more cautiously. So this gave me more incentive to expand on other platforms!

I’ve gotten my VA to help put a ton of my designs on Redbubble and Teepublic. To be honest, I haven’t seen much profit on these platforms, but I do get a few sales on Redbubble here and there. Perhaps the biggest step will be to create my own branded website?

Amazon FBA

I shipped over a few new small items just to test out if I could gather sales without working hard on reviews. So far…not really working…lol.

If you want to see what Amazon FBA is and how to sell items on the platform check out part 1 of my guide here.

Kindle

I pushed out a new Kindle book in October, fiiiinally. We’ll see how it performs!

I also created a discount code with ewritersolutions (this platform is where I get my outsourced writing completed). So if you want to try it out, use my code “Sharon7” for 7% off your first book.

Dropshipping

My friend and I put in a lot more work on our site in October. Because we created objectives I had focus and was able to complete 3/4 of the goals. We made perhaps 1 or 2 organic sales, but this income stream still has not been consistent at all. We’re going to need to step it up. I still believe having your own site selling products is better than depending on other platforms so I want to try harder on this!

New Projects?

I realize I get more exhilaration in starting new projects and making them work rather than continuously building more products on a working platform. Once I get consistent sales on a platform the emotion turns from excitement into fear of “I hope this month at least meets last month’s performance”. This is why I have spread myself onto so many income streams.

This time I’ve been trying something new…AKA hiring to make a mobile app! I’ll try to report about it in November as I’m hoping to have it published by then. FINGERS CROSSED.

I’m also working on a book with my friend, for mewanttravel.

These bigger projects take longer, and I have to be more patient with them. But the fulfillment I’ll get from these passion projects will be huge!
