it’s Sharon from digital nomad quest and today I’m going to give you guys a concise breakdown of the fees that Etsy charges. So quick disclaimer, you know, Etsy is constantly updating their fees. So this video is up to date as of August 30 2019, which is when I recorded this. So now let’s get right into it. First off their listing fees. What is a listing listing is basically a product that you put in your shop. So you sell a wedding card, that is one listing that’s in your shop, right? The Etsy fees are 20 cents a listing lasting for four months time. So you put up a listing in like April, it’s going to last April, May, June, July, right. So it is free to set up your Etsy shop, but it’s going to have no items in it, it costs 20 cents a listing to put up a product in your shop, then you have the transaction fee, every sale you receive as he’s in take 5% cut of your listing price, then there’s an auto renewal fee, every time you sell something, you essentially have to pay another 20 cents. If for example, you want to sell like a wedding card template, you basically pay the 20 cents for the listing fee, but you can stock as many as you want, I can put 999 as the quantity is still 20 cents to put up that listing, but every time like you sell it, you have to pay another 20 cents of the auto renewal fee. And the payment processing fee is different by country. But for us it is 3% of the sales price plus 25 cents. So that can sound kind of confusing. So I’m just going to break down a quick example, right, you sell a $5 product, you list it for 20 cents, that’s the listing fee, right that last for four months. And then you have the transaction fee which is 5% and 5% of $5 is 25 cents, then you got to pay the auto renewal fee that’s another 20 cents and then you got to pay the payment processing fee which is 3% plus 25 cents 3% is 15 cents and 15 cents was 25 cents is 40 cents, which is the payment processing fee and total that is $1 five cents, you minus $1 and five cents from $5. And you get $3 95 cents for your total profits. If you think about it, it’s not too bad. If you’re selling digital products, it’s like passive income you get the rest of the profits and you don’t really have to do anything. It just puts the digital files on it for you. So I think it’s clearly worth it. So yeah, they might take a decent amount of money, so yes, not that bad. So I hope you guys enjoyed this episode. Please make sure to rate review and subscribe. It really helps our podcast grow. And thanks again. I’ll see you guys in the next one.Transcribed by https://otter.ai
