Hey guys, it’s Sharon from digital nomad quest and today I want to tell you guys about how to make your first thousand dollars on Etsy. So if you guys are new to this channel, welcome and make sure to subscribe if you are interested in building passive income driven online businesses to achieve financial freedom. Alright, let’s get right into it. So Etsy was my first income stream that generates a good amount of passive income per month. So I want to teach you guys how to do the same. Step number one, you should make sure you’re putting all your focus on building out your shot when it comes to passive income. It can be easy to get caught up on a bunch of different income streams and ideas and chase that shiny object but when you’re trying to build an income stream, you need to put all your focus into that one stream focus is really key when you’re building out something so it’s important for you to not put your time in1:00
Too many different areas because when you’re building out your shop, you want to be researching how to make the best shop, how to make the best listings, how your competitors are doing things like that you have to put your focus on that one thing until you master it. It’s what I found when it comes to passive income that you have to start with one stream make it work then move on to the next if you want to diversify into different income channels. Number two, you need to figure out your niche when you’re making a shop. You want to make sure you don’t put a bunch of different types of items into one shop because people won’t understand what your shops specifically about. Another reason why you need to figure out your niche is that the marketplace is pretty saturated. You need to find that one thing that makes your shop special and people will turn to your shop for the specific type of listing they’re looking for. Say you are an expert. I’m making minimalistic Microsoft Word templates. You need to make sure all your listings are in that format. So if you make resume templates, cover letter templates, wedding cards, wedding invitations, everything needs to encompass what you said your brand was, which was number one, minimalistic number two, they’re all Microsoft2:00
templates so you need to basically specify exactly what you’re trying to build before you build it. Number three, you need to make sure you take SEO seriously. So this was something I didn’t think about in the very beginning. And then as I learned more about the Etsy marketplace, I learned how to optimize my tags, my keywords, my titles to have the best chances to get discovered on the Etsy marketplace SEO is search engine optimization. So you want to make sure your listings are optimized for the SEO search engine and you need to learn the algorithm to make sure you understand how to rank best on the marketplace. I will make more videos around this as well. But essentially, you’re going to need to learn a little bit of these marketing strategies to rank better on the marketplace. Once I started implementing these strategies, I saw a significant boost to how my listings were performing and how my sales were. So if you want to get that increase in sales, you’re going to need to study SEO. Number four, I suggest to try to get to at least 100 listings so I found exponential results after I hit that 100 listing Mark3:00
The more you put in the more at ease going to value your shot because you have produced a bunch of content for them as well as if you have more listings you have more chances and discover ability based on the keywords you’re using for each listing right The more you put out there, the more chances customers are going to find you. So I think it’s a bit of both that as he’s going to favor you when you have that many items as well as to you have a lot of content for people to find. Number five, make sure you’re working on customer support. This is a mistake I sort of made in the beginning where I really wanted to make everything extremely passive so that I didn’t have to deal too much with customers until I realized that ratings matters so much in your shop and a good customer experience is extremely essential for you know developing a serious and good Etsy business and any business you’re creating. Right You want to make sure customer is number one, your customers are key. Honestly, the reason why you’re making a business should be about the people about impact you’re creating for your customers, so it’s essential to know what to say4:00
Say to the customers, make sure you’re talking to them in a way where you are addressing their needs and not attacking them. A lot of Etsy sellers make the mistake of kind of dealing with customers in a non professional way. And I think that sometimes your customers are going to be upset at you, but you need to understand how to do some conflict resolution and understand how to best support your user base. Lastly, I think it’s important to promote outside of Etsy you can’t completely depend on the Etsy marketplace. And I think it’s important to create a social presence on channels like Pinterest and Instagram because those are heavily visually focused and those can drive even more customers to your shop.
