This is the digital nomad quest podcast with Sharon Tseung. teaching people how to build passive income, become financially free and design the best lives.

Hey guys, it’s Sharon from digital nomad quest and today we’re gonna talk about how to write a good blog post from start to finish. Now if you guys are new to the channel, welcome, I’m all about teaching y’all how to build passive income become financially free and design your best lives. So if you guys are interested in that, make sure to subscribe and hit the bell button to be notified of my latest videos. Now let’s just get right into it. So first off, you want to make sure you have an outstanding title. You want to make sure you captivate them right at the beginning, because if you have an amazing blog post and your title is bland, people are not going to click on it people are not even going to be able to find you. So you’ve probably heard of stuff around you know making click Beatty titles writing listicles and I have to admit those things work right but you also possibly want to try to add a keyword into the title that you are trying to rank for. So we’ll go into SEO and keywords more later. But basically, you want to look for a keyword that doesn’t have too much competition, but also has enough search volume where if you ranked well for it, you get on the top of search and then also get a bunch of traffic to your website because a lot of people are searching for those terms. So if you’re able to combine that keyword with something that’s kind of interesting to click on, you’re going to do really well in that area. Number two, you want to make sure you have a hooky introduction is what I call it. So you want to make sure that your intro is very captivating as well. And in my outline the benefits that they’re going to get from reading your blog post or might summarize basically what you’re going to talk about. And it might even give proof of results. For example, if you’re teaching them how to make money on a certain platform or something like that, you might talk about how you were able to make this much or this much you might tell a story where you’re like I was struggling to do that, but I’m going to give you guys my tips after having experienced it and you can learn from my experiences, stuff like that where you kind of tell that interesting story or journey or Tell them exactly what they’re going to get out of it so that they can relate as well as be excited for what’s to come in the blog post number three, you should make sure you use headers. So I usually use h2 and h3 headers, you should avoid using h1 headers too much. But h2 and three are fine to create that kind of division within your blog post. Because what happens is you don’t have these kind of headers, it’s hard for your brain to like read everything through without getting those little summary points because those headers kind of make your brain understand the outline of the entire article. So it really helps having those sub headers number four, you should make sure your paragraphs are no longer than five or six sentences. So sometimes people do like one line sentences over and over again, and they actually do work. It’s just because your brain can like understand it so much better. When you have your paragraphs broken up. They’re shorter, they’re easy for your brain to digest. Because the idea is you want to make sure that people who land on your page don’t get bored and don’t get sick of reading whatever you’re writing. So you want to make sure that you’re To capture their attention span, so huge blocks of text are going to turn people off huge blocks of text without headers definitely will turn people off. So when you’re breaking it up, simply you’re putting headers, it’s just so much easier for you to digest the information. Now along the same lines, you want to make sure you add photos and multimedia. Like for example, if you want to put video in there, you can do that as well. If you are blogging, as well, as you’re doing YouTube, and you’re doing podcasts, you might want to put in your episodes into that blog posts that are relevant so that people stay on your page and actually digest the information. For example, if you put a video in there, they might watch the whole video the whole way through. And if they do that, that means you have longer page time, which signals to Google that this is a good article because people are staying on your website, and then they’re gonna want to rank you higher. But not only that, the videos and the pictures just make it easier for people to digest the information because some people learn from visuals. Some people learn from reading some people learn from listening so when you capture all those things, people will be able to To get the information more clearly, you also want to add inbound and outbound links. So with inbound, you kind of want to link to other articles of yours that might be relevant to them. So what happens with this is that they might open it into a new tab. And they’re going to be able to digest more information from your blog and just keep looking at your blog, you want to make sure that your users stay on your website, right. So if you’re gonna keep feeding them the information that they want to read, then you become that thought leader in your niche, that resource where people can be like, Oh, my gosh, I can find everything I need within your blog post. So it’s good to always link to your own stuff within your blog post. It’s also good to link to other links that might backup your information. So if you can link to an article that gives stats or infographics that support your point, it’s really good to reference those. It’s another way to kind of show that you’ve done your research. It’s also good for SEO because when it comes to search engine optimization, basically, you got to think of the internet as like a spider web. And the more you’re linked to more so says and you’re linked back from other sources, the more interconnected you are with the web. And Google’s going to recognize that and kind of push you higher. So it’s always good to link outside and also inside. Lastly, you want to make a good conclusion. And at the end, you want to make sure that you kind of have a question or some sort of call to action for the user. Because when you pose a question, it’s more likely that they’re going to comment on your blog post. And when you have comments on your blog post, you also want to engage with those as well. So these are good tips to keep them on the website. keep them engaged with you, so that they’re going to come back for more from you and they know that you’re like a human being that is answering those questions. So it’s good to always pose those questions at the end.
