This is the digital nomad quest podcast with Sharon Tseung. teaching people how to build passive income, become financially free and design the best lives. Hey guys, it’s Sharon from digital nomad quests. And today I’m excited to announce that I’ve passed the real estate agent license exam. So in this video, I kind of want to talk about why I decided to even try to get my license. So actually back in 2012, remember I told you guys that I was really excited about learning about investing and all these things like that. And then my friend told me that he was kind of interested investing and he was actually studying for the real estate agent license. And I was like, why are you doing that? Basically, he was saying that it would help him save on fees. As you know, real estate transactions have like usually a 2.5% commission fee for the buyer’s agent as well as the 2.5% for the seller’s agent. So kind of depends which side you’re on but you still have to pay fees to these agents. In my head, I was thinking, oh, maybe I should actually get that license so that I can be the agent for myself. If I were to invest if I were to buy my first property, whatever. So at the time I looked into it, and I found out you had to take three online courses and pass and get that certification so that you can take that license exams. So then I bought those courses and passed them in 2012. So I did it all online. So I didn’t have to go to any location. There are a lot of online courses out there that you can purchase and you can actually get that certification from that. And then after a while, I realized you have to pay annual fees to uphold that license. So I was like, okay, maybe I shouldn’t even go for this password like seven years later. Now. I’m like, maybe I should just go for the license. And I was looking into I was like, Is it still valid? My certification from those courses? And it actually was so I sent those certifications into the Department of real estate. Yeah, the I think it was the Care the Department of real estate and they basically accepted it, it costs like 60 bucks for me to send those materials in scheduled my license exam. So then, in the next few weeks, I was preparing like crazy to pass the exam. And I use prep agent calm for all my studying purposes, and I was able to pass. And now I’m like really excited because I’m thinking about actually being an agent part time. And my reasons are that I feel like the industry is kind of outdated. And I feel like I could either make it more efficient or try to kind of been agent and try to be on the top to leverage my marketing skills and try to actually get my branding out there and see what happens. So I’m excited and I’ll see what happens. But that’s basically why I took the license exam that I wanted it for investing purposes, as well as for if I’m going to be an agent, so I haven’t gotten the license yet, but I just want to tell you guys about my progress. I’m excited about it. I feel like I could learn more about the real estate industries. I guess it’s multiple things. It’s for investing for being an agent for learning more about the industry. So yeah, I’m excited. If you want to try, you should probably use prep agent, I’ll put the link below actually have a discount code for it. So the discount code is Sharon. So if you want to use that, you can get 20% off for studying for the exam. But even before that, you’re going to have to get the courses so you’re going to need to do that before you take the license exam. And then for that exam, you’ll need to prep for it with prep agent. So I hope you guys enjoyed this episode. Please make sure to rate review and subscribe. It really helps our podcast grow. And thanks again. I’ll see you guys in the next one.
